Lewis Latimer Science and Career Expo Highlights Success of STEM Education in Queens, NY


The Lewis Latimer Science and Career Expo, held in partnership with York College, was a resounding success, showcasing the vibrant spirit of STEM education in Queens, NY. On Saturday, May 4th, 2024, attendees gathered at York College, a college in the heart of Southeast Queens, for a day filled with immersive experiences, enlightening discussions, and inspiring presentations.

Hosted by Aleeia Abraham, founder of the BlaQue Resource Network, and Rachael Walton, who leads Student Activities at York College, the event kicked off with an address from Keynote Speaker: Public Advocate, Jumaane Williams. His captivating speech highlighted the importance of STEM education and acknowledged the invaluable contributions of community leaders dedicated to advancing STEM initiatives on a local level. Deputy Borough President Ebony Young also graced the event, offering words of encouragement and support for the aspiring STEM enthusiasts in attendance.

A highlight of the expo was the engaging Careers in STEM Panel, featuring esteemed professionals from various backgrounds. Cyber Security Expert Steve Touissant, iResearch founder Serena McCalla, Scientist Corissa McEwen, Oncologist Fitzroy Dawkins, Electrical Engineer Joe White, Aerospace Engineer Tarik Ward, A.I. Expert Andrea Kelli, and our esteemed Moderator Dunstan Abraham shared their insights and experiences, providing invaluable guidance to aspiring young minds.

Chief Information Security Officer Tellis Williams Represents Dream Exchange at Global Cyber Security Initiative 2024


Dream Exchange, the first minority-controlled stock exchange in the history of the United States is proud to announce that its Chief Information Security Officer ("CISO"), Tellis Williams, was featured in a fireside chat at the esteemed Global Cyber Security Initiative (GCSI) Annual Conference held at the Illinois Institute of Technology ("IIT") on Thursday, April 18, 2024.

The conference, co-hosted by IIT and the Pan Asian American Business Council (PAABC), brought together nearly 200 leaders representing Chief Experience Officers ("CxOs"), CISOs, and senior cybersecurity professionals from a wide range of industries. The event featured over 20 prominent speakers addressing critical issues in cybersecurity, including the rise of Artificial Intelligence ("AI"), strategic risk management, and challenges in highly regulated industries.

Mr. Williams, a seasoned cybersecurity professional with over 25 years of experience in Information Technology and Information Security joined William Smith, Director of Strategy for Financial Services at Microsoft, in an engaging fireside chat. Their discussion delved into the unique cybersecurity challenges faced by financial institutions and presented strategies one can use to protect sensitive data in an increasingly digital landscape. The two also discussed the use of AI by major threat actors and strategies that can be implemented to help protect organizations against such threats.

"It was an honor to represent Dream Exchange at the GCSI Annual Conference and engage with such an impressive group of cybersecurity opinion leaders," said Tellis Williams. "As the financial sector continues to evolve, Dream Exchange is poised to make history as the first minority-controlled stock exchange. Since we are poised to make history very soon, it is crucial that we stay at the forefront of the best practices in cybersecurity to safeguard our clients' trust and assets."

Ed is an accomplished saxophonist & active jazz player on the NY & International scene. Ed Jackson’s dynamic sound encompasses both the tradition and future of jazz. His versatility enables him to move within the various styles of jazz while at the same time maintaining a unique sound and direction.

Ed Jackson‘s wide range of styles is evident in the musicians he has worked and recorded with which include Roy Haynes, George Cables, Tom Browne, The Fatback Band, Melba Moore, Bobby Watson Big Band, T.S. Monk, The Jackson Brothers Quartet, Illinois Jacquet,The Count Basie Band, Jaki Byard, Ran Blake, Sam Rivers, Weldon Irvine, Bernard Wright, Tom Varner, Ty Stephens and SoulJaazz. He is also the founder of the world-renowned 29th Street Saxophone Quartet, an internationally acclaimed group he has extensively recorded and toured with.

Ed is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music and received the Selmer Company Award for Outstanding Saxophonist.

100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc.’s President Phil Andrews Named "Man of the Year"


100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc.’s President Phil Andrews, named "Man of the Year," was honored by The National Association of Negro Business & Professional Women's Club, Inc. Central Nassau Club on April 13th, 2024 at their 65th Annual Founder’s Day Celebration Honoring Entrepreneurs, Business and Professional Women at the Coral House in Baldwin, New York.  “I am humbled by receiving such a prestigious award such as the Central Club "Man of the Year” and the award will continue to inspire us to build upon the work that we have embarked upon in establishing a chartered chapter of 100 Black Men of America, Inc.

It was an honor and a privilege to be honored alongside Tracey Edwards (Sojourner Truth Award), Entrepreneur Awards to Angela Stanley, Joy Williams, LaShawn Lukes, Samantha Lawson, Business Award to Adrian Goodwin, Professional Award to Brianna Vaughn.
