Queens-Based Museums &
Businesses Unite for Science Expo

Jamaica Queens, NY – March 23rd, 2024 – The Lewis Latimer Science & Career Expo is set to captivate and educate students with its vibrant showcase of science and career opportunities. Hosted at York College in Queens from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, this event promises a day of immersive exploration for 5th to 11th graders, featuring dynamic panel discussions, inspiring speakers, interactive workshops, and a display of non-profit initiatives.

The expo aims to ignite curiosity and introduces students to everyday science while highlighting the small businesses in their communities. 

Featured Exhibits:

• LD Organic Hair offers a hands-on exhibit on diseases of the scalp.
• Queens Modern Dental dives into the anatomy of the mouth.
• Gamestation transports students to outer space through Virtual Reality.
• Plus, engaging displays from renowned institutions like the NY Hall of Science Museum, Lewis Latimer House Museum, JFK Aerospace and Aeronautics Academy, and more.

FORMER GANG MEMBER FROM LA NOW RUNS A MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR ORGANIZATION WITH 125 EMPLOYEES

In 2012, Yusef Wiley was released from a California Correctional facility after serving close to 22 years due to his past gang involvement in South Central LA. He hit the ground running being supported by family, friends, and the faith community located in the San Francisco Bay Area, he immediately began to make his passion for serving known by speaking at all types of venues.

Not long after that, requests began to pour in for Yusef to share his story at local government meetings, college campus events, and companies in Silicon Valley. After securing employment in the private school sector as an African-American Studies School Teacher.

In 2014, it was time to bring to life his dream and prayer to serve his community full-time as founder of the Timelist Group, Inc., which is now a successful multi-million dollar operation serving the very community he once helped to destroy as a gang member.

Now Dress In-Style!

World Travelers Glenn and Amanda Goring, and their two daughters, Brooklyn and Lexington, are the owners/operators of a successful luxury travel business called In-Style Travel. Mom and Dad book the accommodations, curate travel itineraries, and serve as travel concierges for the luxury travel packages offered.

Meanwhile, the two daughters serve as travel influencers and video bloggers for their company’s YouTube channel, LittleMissTravelers. Together, this family travels in style and aims to show metaphorically and literally how we can also dress in style.

This Black History Month, they have launched their new Fashion brand Chic Wear By In-Style.  This worldwide traveled family begins their new journey by curating clothes from their African Culture and in nexus other rich cultural sources.
