Kamau's Question:
Thank you Ms. Sumler, for talking time out of your busy schedule to help in an crucially important issue in the Black community: business development.  You are a very interesting neighbor in our community.

Can you tell me a little about your background? Like where you grew up and maybe went to school?

Rahni's Answer:
I grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Most of my family is from Eden, NC. I studied Electrical Engineering at NC A&T State University, focusing on telecommunications and Systems Engineering.

What makes me unique is my global experience. During my formative years, I traveled extensively and studied abroad. I represented A&T at a Climate Change Research Expedition and studied at Korea University.

In 2013, I moved to New York, shortly after SuperStorm Sandy, which ironically originated from NC. When my telecom job fell through, my first job involved helping people process their FEMA assistance claims. I've been doing that ever since, but now I work in business strategy.

Kamau: Who or what inspired you to start your business development business?

Rahni's Answer: I come from a long line of entrepreneurs going back five generations. My family still lives on the 40-acre property in Eden, NC, that my Great-Great Grandmother Mariah bought during the reconstruction period. She showed a lot of courage and business savvy to secure that land.

Business has been a big part of our family ever since, with my father and older sisters running their own businesses. Unfortunately, when my father passed away in 2015, his businesses closed down with him.

He took his knowledge with him, leaving us with few options to keep them going. That's when I realized the importance of preserving and documenting businesses, starting with creating business manuals.

After working with different entrepreneurs for about ten years, I've seen the challenges they face, like getting funding and finding skilled workers. Many business owners struggle to grow because they have to do everything themselves. Our community is stuck in a system that expects us to use outside money, making it hard to succeed.

That's why I shifted my focus to creating business plans, especially to help with SBA funding.

Kamau's Question: What makes your business unique and empowering?

Rahni's Answer: Let me start with the exact market problem we solve: Currently, very few services help small businesses figure out how much they are worth. Most of the tools and programs out there are meant for big companies, not for small businesses.

If you want to start your own business, going to college might not be the best choice. College teaches you technical skills but doesn't really prepare you for running a small business. This means small businesses have to figure things out on their own without much help. And getting money to start a business is hard.

I focus on helping small businesses with their day-to-day activities and plans. I have experience in problem-solving and project management, and I've created a simple program to help business owners.

Our program can guide a business from getting money to getting contracts with the government. Most importantly, we give businesses the advice they need to be successful, from the start to when they're fully grown.

Our best service is our business subscriptions. Many small businesses don't have a good credit history because the companies they work with don't have to report payments. Along with our business and our credit reporting partner, we have one of the few services that can help small businesses improve their business credit.

This is part of our overall Business-Builder Service, and we've helped many clients get funding this way.

Kamau's Question: Can you tell us about some of your goals and plans for the future of your business?

Rahni's Answer:  We're looking to expand our Business Scaling Kit from serving one person at a time to serving many people at once. To do this, we're creating an online platform for the product and organizing quarterly workshop-like events.

The NYC Office of Probations bought our first workshop, the Business Scaling Summit, to help young people involved in the justice system who are interested in starting their own businesses. The participants did really well; we successfully helped launch 14 businesses, but participants had trouble with the workshop's current "pen-and-paper" format.

We're working with a vendor to create an engaging online platform, and we're currently raising funds to make that happen. We also plan to hold a Business Scaling Summit in Fall 2025 and start hosting quarterly summits within the next 3 years.

Once these summits are up and running, I hope to pursue a PhD and write a dissertation on small business innovation. I want to use the summits as a way to research and explore how small businesses are innovating in the current business landscape.

Kamau's Question:  What are some of the exclusive business services and products you provide?

Rahni's Answer:  Our main service, the 5-step Business Scaling Suite, is designed to help our clients grow their businesses step-by-step. We start by thoroughly reviewing their business and then work on improving their business credit, helping them secure funding, and ultimately enabling them to take on bigger projects.

Our subscription plans are customized to suit your specific business goals, whether it's expanding your business, creating instructional material and getting licensed, or bidding for large contracts.  We also offer SBA loans for established small businesses and joint partnerships.

We can help secure loans ranging from $600k to several million dollars for business real estate purposes. We handle all the necessary paperwork and planning while our SBA lending partner takes care of the approval process.

Kamau: Amazing! What is the best way to contact you?

Rahni's Answer: Best way for people who want to start-- you can get a free 30-minute consultation by clicking the link below:
