Kamau's Question: Hervé, can you tell me a little about your background?
Like where you grew up and maybe went to school?
Hervé's Answer: I grew up on the border of Brooklyn and Queens in Bushwick. I’ve attended schools in both boroughs, but in high school I attended Christ the King, as well as Hillcrest, which was the bridge for me to build connections in the deeper parts of Queens. I attended a few colleges in rural parts of NY but ultimately completed my degree at Brooklyn College with a bachelor's degree in Psychology.
Hervé's Answer: During the pandemic, I used the time to further my education by earning a certification in Project Management. For our final assignment, we were asked to build out a mock project; I chose to create a comedy show, in which the professor offered great feedback. Fast-forward to a conversation with a few friends, they suggested I make the project a reality. It was there that our first show “Thursdays are for Laughs” was born.
Kamau's Question: Who are some of your favorite comics of all time?
Hervé's Answer: I have been a fan of comedy since I was a young child, so this laundry list dates back to the days of Comic View. This also includes some newer names that may be unfamiliar, but you should get to know. I have been fortunate enough to work with some of these names as well.
Talent, Lavelle Crawford, Bill Burr Karlos Miller, Clayton English, Tu Rae, Sommore, Tacarra Williams, Katt Williams, Earthquake, AG White, Dave Chapelle, TK Kirkland, K-Dubb, Andre Shulz, Joe Rogan, Bruce Bruce, Anthony Moore, Sinck, Julio Diaz, Jonas Jeannot and Blaq Ron.
Kamau's Question: What do you look for - talent wise, when booking comedians?
Hervé's Answer: First thing that I always consider is the audience. Does the comedian have relatable content? So the curation of the show is contingent on the audience. Outside of that, if they make me laugh, I know they’ll have the same effect on others.
Kamau's Question: Can you tell us about some of your future comedy events?
Hervé's Answer: We have back-to-back shows on Long Island, and Brooklyn, on Jan.20th and 21st respectively. Tu Rae will be headlining both shows. He recently was featured on Sommore’s All the Kings Men on Netflix and we’re lucky that we have the ongoing relationship that we have with him. On Saturday Jan.20 we’ll be at Oulala, in Lynbrook, with a 7pm door time and Sunday we’re doing a Comedy Brunch at BK Estates in Brooklyn, where the doors open at 3pm.
Here are the other featured comedians on the lineup:
- Oulala-Stanley Dubois
- Reggie Kush
- Stacy Cordell
- BK Estates
- Jonas Jeanott
- Reggie and...
- Host - Sinck
Kamau's Question: Will you tell us about some of the funniest comedians we can look forward to seeing in some of your upcoming shows?
Hervé's Answer: Donnell Rawlings, Earthquake, Tocarra Williams, Ali Saddiq, Karlos Miller to name a few.
What I ask is, even if you are not familiar with a comedian's name, believe that we carefully select who we work with. We want to put out a good product as much as you’d like to attend one.
Kamau: What is the best way to contact you to find out about your future comedy shows?
