Kamau: Can you tell us a little about your background and life growing up in Southeast Queens and New York?
Aneka's Answer: I was born in Jamaica, West Indies. My dad brought us to Queens, New York, when I was five years old.
Growing up in Queens, was a good experience. I went to P.S116, I.S. 238, and attended York College. After completing a year at York College, I transferred to Briarcliffe College, and graduated with a BA in Science.

Kamau: What inspired you to go into your present ecommerce business?
Aneka's Answer: Four (4) years ago I was very unhealthy and overweight. After having multiple surgeries and spending my 30th birthday in the hospital - I decided that I needed to change. I starting losing weight and documenting my journey.
I would share my daily eating routine with my social media friends. Because of the success I was having losing weight, my friends were asking me for my weight loss recipes and asking me to help them.
I decided to create my weight loss e-book. Once my e-book was ready I placed it on my website and started selling it.
After building a 6 figure e-commerce business, I now am looking into transitioning into teaching other individuals on how to start their e-commerce business.
Kamau: How promising is the e-commerce business these days?
Aneka's Answer: Ecommerce is very promising. Covid definitely showed us business owners that during this challenging period.
Unfortunately, a lot of businesses that did not have an online business - did not last through COVID. Having an e-commerce business allows people to shop with you 24/7 worldwide.
Kamau: What are the products and services you offer in your e-commerce and coaching business?
Aneka's Answer: I host monthly workshops teaching individuals how to build a website, start a drop shipping business, and print-on-demand business. For individuals that are busy, we offer website development and marketing services.
Kamau: How will you look to help people in the area, or Blacks in general, become successful in e-commerce?
Aneka's Answer: One of my goals is to help my community build an eCommerce business. I go out and educate the community about low-cost ways to start making income online.
My mission is to make e-commerce affordable for everyone so services are priced very competitive.
Kamau: What do you think is the uniqueness in your business and coaching programs in contrast to similar ecommerce businesses and coaches today?
Aneka's Answer: What makes our company unique is our price, your actually learning from someone who has done it for themselves. Our company gives more value to our clients than they pay for.
Kamau: Can you tell us some of the challenges and difficulties you've had to overcome in your e-commerce business?
Aneka's Answer: One major difficulty I had to face is funding and getting quality staff to work with. I was able to overcome the funding aspect by applying for grants. I overcame finding quality staff by doing a better job of hiring the right candidate.
Kamau: Can you tell us about some of your goals and plans for the future of your business?
Aneka's Answer: Our first quarter goal is to hire more staff so we can survive in the community. My 2nd goal is to collaborate with more organizations that are looking to educate the community on e-commerce.
