Black History Film Festival, April 14th & 15, 2023 Season 5 - Red Carpet Queens Underground International Film Festival
Jamaica Queens, NY – Announcing Season 5 of the Queens Underground International Black History Month Red Carpet Film Festival on Friday and Saturday, April 14th & 15 at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center in downtown Jamaica, Queens, NY. Featuring Independent Filmmakers from all over, the Festival will span two days and include: Movie Shorts, Documentary Shorts, Poetry and Music Videos from the past and present.
This Season, Celebrity Actor, Writer, Director: Kaamel ‘Diezel’ Hasaun will be in attendance on both. Mr. Hasaun has over 40 professional credits to his name and most recently appeared in episodes of McGraw Ave., which is another hit series on Tubi and he is also well known for Movies such as: He Played Me, Dear Future Husband and Undying Love.
Held annually in April, Queens Underground ensures that Filmmakers near and far will have great weather to travel and dress up for the Red Carpet affair. This Season, the majority of the Submissions are from Queens, Brooklyn, Long Island, Texas, California, Maryland, Zambia, United Kingdom, Italy, Ireland, Iran, Ghana, France and Canada.

While there are brilliant persons on the Autism Spectrum celebrated today, very little media stories focus on people, especially women of color. Our co-publisher's new bio-pic "nZinga's Spectrum In 3D," is a moving and inspirational documentary on how a young Black woman RISES to overcome her challenges.

Other features of the Festival is the Red Carpet Hosted once again by Serious Voice, Music Artist, Talk Show Host and Music Video Producer and Actress, Kathleen Liautaud. Joining as a Red Carpet Host this Season is Kayrich of the Rich Roku Network. The Filmmakers Panel, always Facilitated by local Filmmaker, Dwayne Parker will take place on Saturday, April 15th at 6pm.
In attendance will be Queens Borough President: Donovan Richards; Tom Grech, President and CEO of the Queens Chamber Of Commerce; Valerie Campbell, Director of the Long Island African American Chamber Of Commerce and Elizabeth Wellington, Deputy Director of the Long Island African American Chamber Of Commerce. Food, Beverages and local artisan Vendors will also be available. Community Awards will be presented to Ree Brinn, Queens Chronicle Newspaper and nonprofit Director, Daniella May. The Sponsors for the Film Festival include: Hampton Gourmet and Julia’s Kitchen.

Saturday’s Award Presentations will include a $500 Grant for the best Movie Short and trophies for each category and for the Best Female and Best Male Actor.
