Queens Underground International holds Season 3 of its Annual Black History Month Film Festival.

Queens Underground International is holding its 4th Annual 1st Ever Black and Brown History Month Film Festival featuring live performances, panels, and guest speakers. The festival will take place on February 26th, 2022, and again on April 8th and 9th, 2022, from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. (April 8th hours are 6:30pm to 10:00pm, April 9th hours are 4pm to 9:30pm.) Festivities on all three dates will be held at King Manor Museum, 150-03 Jamaica Ave, Queens, NY 11432. Queens Underground International is going BOLD this year for Black History Month! They have extended their festival to become the Black and Brown History Month Festival, with events in February and April. This allows them to continue the festivities into National Poetry Month and end this exciting and inspiring festival with a huge Poetry Slam. With submissions from over 16 countries this year, each event is filled with stories from cultures all over the world.

Article On The Black History Film Festival Continues Below...
This year’s festival includes special submissions, ‘Little Satchmo” through the eyes Sharon Preston-Folta, daughter of the late Jazz Legend, Louis Armstrong who lived in Queens, NY from 1943 through 1971 and a project by nZinga Austin, the award-winning media entrepreneur who is overcoming her challenges on the autism spectrum. She is the co-publisher of the Southeast Queens Scoop and AMS digital news blogs who is branching out into the 3D art and animation field in her latest work “nZinga's Spectrum in 3D”, which will be featured at the festival. Her documentary is in post production and will premier at the April, 8th and 9th show.
Live Performances by Nate Moran, a professional mime, will also be performing during the festival most days. Nate is an Army Veteran, long time dancer, and author of “The Mime Speaks”. He began miming more than ten years ago to inspire our youth through his after-school program. Andrew Washington, Talk Show Host and Magician will also perform and host the Red Carpet along with his Talk Show co-host, Frank Correira.
Expected guests are Mayor Eric Adams and Queens Borough President Donovan Richards. Panels including an Introduction to Film Making and another reviewing Casting for actors and actresses. A Grant for a Filmmaker will Awarded alongside other presentations on Saturday, April 9th sponsored by a few local organizations including the St. Albans Branch of the NAACP.

Queens Underground Film Festival is a subsidiary of Queens Center of The Arts, Incorporated, a 501c3 Registered Non-Profit Organization. Their mission is to promote all of the arts, especially the art of non-typical artists and minorities. They are a “networking” hub that seeks to share the stories, creations, and creatives themselves via their platform and events.
