80-YEAR OLD BLACK JEWELRY DESIGNER MAKES HISTORY, RELEASES 24K GOLD MEDALLION LAUNCHED BY MOIJEY

Nationwide -- Black-owned jewelry company, Moijey Fine Jewelry and Diamonds, has teamed up with Brenda Joyce, an international gemologist and designer, to launch a unique medallion series made with pure 24 karat gold from Ghana. The series, called Sankofa Medallions by Brenda Joyce, is available in three sizes (1oz, 1/10th ounce, and a limited edition 5oz), and they gracefully commemorate the highly popular Year of Return and Beyond the Return in Ghana.

The first Medallion was awarded to the President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo by Joyce herself. Since then, the Medallion has been officially launched in the U.S., and is now available on Moijey's official website at Moijey.com and at all its retail locations.

The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, for the benefit of NYC Service’s Love Your Block initiative, invites eligible New York City resident-led groups to apply for a block beautification project.

Love Your Block provides a unique opportunity for resident-led groups to transform and beautify their neighborhood while leveraging City services. Resident-led groups (grantees) receive a $1,000 grant to transform a city block in their neighborhood.

The Eastern Queens Alliance is pleased to present the second Science-in-the-Park Mini-Camp – Animals of the Ocean. Kids in grades 3 through 8 are invited to join the camp on Wednesdays from March 17th through April 21st. Camp will run from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm. For a registration form, e-mail idlewildesc@easternqueensalliance.org


Each session will focus on a few of the most ecologically interesting animal species and connect them to aquatic ecosystems and environmental science. Students will be asked to answer questions, participate in activities, and complete optional supplemental assignments.

Immanuel Wilkins Trio

Immanuel Wilkins is a Saxophonist, Composer, Arranger, and Bandleader from the greater Philadelphia-area. Being a bandleader and having a working group for over four years has allowed Immanuel to grow both as a composer and arranger.

Ultimately, Immanuel’s mission is to create a sound that has a profound spiritual and emotional impact which will allow him to become a great leader in the long lineage of jazz musicians. Through studying the human pathos of the music and the culture of jazz, Immanuel aspires to bring people together through the commonality of love and belief in this music.

Jamaica/Southeast Queens - Complete Girlz Inc., a mentoring, support, and empowerment group for girls and young women is sponsoring a "rap battle" for a song called "Authenic Self."  The purpose of the rap battle is to create lyrics for the song.

"The winner is to receive a grand prize trophy" according to founder Earlene A. Lezama.  The organization teaches young women to speak, run businesses, and helps build their self esteem among other wellness skills for teenage young women and girls. 

Since the organization is focused on the positive development of young girls and ladies the rules state the contestant's rap lyrics must be:

1. Lyrics must be clean

2. Speak To You, your life, and your self esteem

3. Song Length should be 1 minute and 30 seconds MAX

4. Provided Music Is Under Copyright Law And Cannot Be Shared, Duplicated, Or Used in any other way than for this event
