Chamber Executives States “Chamber Development and Leadership Development Vital To Black Business Growth Across America”

By Phil Andrews

National News – Chamber Executives States “chamber development and leadership development is vital to black business growth Across America” during COVID-19 Crisis, and Post COVID-19.  It is no secret that Black Businesses in America have suffered a tremendous loss during this recent pandemic.

Chamber development and leadership development plans and strategies must work in parallel together to foster business growth in the Black Community in a sustainable manner many years into the future.  Corporate support of diversity initiatives in the Black Community will continue to play a vital role in leveling the playing field in America.

“As President of the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. we have seen the direct correlation between chamber development and leadership development in the business sector as an opportunity to not only return businesses to prior levels, but help them to fuel their growth to the next level.”  Phil Andrews, President – Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. – New York State’s largest African American Chamber of Commerce and the New York District Office of the United States Small Business Administration.

Coincidentally, our chamber launched our campaign to Retool, Refocus and Rebuild Black Business in New York State in November of 2019 prior to the Covid-19 crises. At that time we decided to  raise the bar for what it means to be a black chamber in New York State. As chambers of commerce such as ours continue to evolve we believe that it will result in significant growth of Black Businesses across a variety of industries.

Since our chamber was founded we have actively provided a wide variety of programs and activities geared towards increasing our member’s capacity to grow their respective business enterprises to the next level.  The Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. stands firm on our chamber’s ability to impact the scope, size, and growth of small business owners in our region for many years into the future.  See information about Wish & LIAACC: The Wish Local Empowerment Program below!

Video & Article On Phil Andrews, The Wish & LIAACC Black Business Empowerment Program Continues Below...

About: Wish Local is a series of programs that allows small businesses to partner with Wish, one of the largest eCommerce marketplaces in the world. As part of the Wish Local program, businesses select which programs to participate in and can sell their inventory on Wish, act as neighborhood Wish pickup locations, source wholesale items, and more.

The Wish Local Empowerment Program is a $2M fund Wish has dedicated to give roughly 4,000 Black-owned businesses financial support. Businesses choose how to best utilize the funding, but suggestions include keeping your workforce employed, paying rent, or connecting with new customers.

Wish recognizes that as a large e-commerce company, we have an opportunity and responsibility to help uplift others and we can’t think of a better way than by helping people build their businesses.

Wish Local Empowerment Program Apply here

As part of the initiative, Wish has partnered with Official Black Wall Street and Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce (LIAACC) to help promote the program amongst their networks.

To apply, business owners must tell Wish about their store and why they qualify for the program. Our committee will then review all applications to select which stores will receive funds and allocate funds accordingly.

All successful applicants join the Wish Local program – a global network of 40,000 partner stores around the world. Through the program they can sign up as a Wish Pickup point or take advantage of our Sell on Wish feature which gives small retailers an immediate digital presence by allowing them to trade their own inventory online. Sign up is free and Wish takes no cut of any product upload, sale or delivery fee.

The news further enhances Wish’s ongoing drive to expand its merchant footprint in North America and Europe and, in doing so, revitalize local communities who are amongst the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
