BLACK-OWNED NATURAL HAIR CARE BRAND OFFERS FRANCHISE OPPORTUNITIES TO WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS

Nationwide  In 2017, Diva By Cindy hair care products opened the first natural hair care kiosk in the Baltimore/Washington International airport. In 2019, they revolutionized the industry by launching BWI's first natural hair automated vending machine affirming their place in the modernization of the beauty industry.

Diva By Cindy is a Black-owned natural and alcohol-free haircare brand with extreme detangling abilities. Founder and former RN, Cindy Tawiah, was inspired to make nail polish and lipstick by a Chemistry teacher in Ghana, West Africa. Parental pressure led her to pursue a career in the medical field for 13 years. In 2004, Tawiah opened her first salon and later developed the brand in 2007.

BWI and Airmall have given small minority businesses such as Tawiah's an opportunity to showcase their products and/or services. Diva By Cindy has provided 2 separate franchise opportunities. Sequoia Thompson, who opened a Diva By Cindy newly branded storefront at BWI airport, and Yolanda Brown who owns and operates the automated vending machine concept at Arundel Mills Mall. Both are black women and new entrepreneurs.

Diva By Cindy is looking forward to expanding their brand beyond its current borders and wishes to continue offering franchise opportunities for women. The company is currently available at DivaByCindy.com, BWI Airport, Arundel Mills Mall, Sally Beauty Supply stores, Giant, Giant Eagle, Tops, and Walmart.com.

Cindy Tawiah has been featured on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, Baltimore's WMAR-TV, and Fox 45. She has also been featured in Essence and Hype Hair Magazine.

After having to close the original Diva By Cindy kiosk at BWI airport a few years ago, the newly franchised and branded storefront at the airport is on concourse AB (Southeast Airlines), marks their relaunch at BWI airport. The kiosk has just opened on February 24, 2020, and had to close soon thereafter because of COVID-19. It is with pure excitement that Thompson announces her July relaunch date. Diva By Cindy hair care products may be used on all hair types, including both natural and chemically processed hair. The product line consists of 13 different formulations, which include a moisture system and a growth-stimulating system. The products may even be used to address hair loss resulting from chemotherapy, thyroid medication, and high blood pressure medication.

At Arundel Mills Malls, home of the newest Diva By Cindy natural haircare vending machine, following its predecessor, the first of its kind, located in BWI airport, stores were shuttered until recently in Maryland because of COVID-19. Having a representative at the site to guide people through the vending machine process is a big help in driving sales. Despite these unforeseen instances, the company is looking forward to expanding their brand beyond its current borders and wishes to continue offering franchise opportunities for black women.

This is only a continuation of historically providing opportunities, The Diva Project, launched in 2004, and is the philanthropic arm of Diva by Cindy hair care system. The Diva Project aims to heal, restore, and transform women affected by domestic violence by giving them a day of beauty and healing. A percentage of the product's proceeds go toward supporting homeless women and victims of domestic violence.

There are six guiding principles that guide both Diva by Cindy and The Diva Project. They are: prayer, passion, perseverance, persistence, presence, and positivity. This is all chronicled in her book entitled Metamorphosis: Finding Your Passion, Finding Your Purpose, Finding U. The six principles not only guide her products and inspire her philanthropy but also her life. This feels good-do good hair care brand is taking off and changing the world “one diva at a time!”
