"Dr. Herman Glenn Cooke (1918-1977), a genius and Professor of Biology, Elizabeth City State Teachers College (1961-1963-1977), was truly a discoverer of the previously unknown species of Tendipedidae (Tanypodinae Chironomidae) non-biting midges near the capital city of Madison, Wisconsin in 1962, subsequently named in his honor.” The ECSU Alumni Today 2014.
