“We are here to honor these creative, industrious people, who despite being kidnapped and brought to our shores against their will, were resolute in their fight for human dignity and equality,” Sanders said. “I trust that our ancestors will find some solace in us marking the occasion as we continue the resistance.”

NEW APP TO HELP SAVE PREGNANT BLACK WOMEN AND THEIR BABIES GETS $200K IN FUNDING
Kimberly Seals Allers, creator of the Irth app
Black women are 243% more likely to die from pregnancy and childbirth-related complications.

Irth, an app created by Kimberly Seals Allers, holds doctors accountable for high Black maternal and infant mortality rates. This app, unlike others, specifically aims to eliminate bias in the health care industry.

New York, NY -- Narrative Nation, Inc. a non-profit that creates multimedia content and new technologies to eradicate health disparities, has received a $200,000 grant from the Tara Health Foundation, to develop its signature digital platform, Irth (as in Birth, but without the B for bias), a tool to identify and eradicate bias in maternity and infant care.

Irth is a groundbreaking mobile application with dual market uses that will catalyze the health equity movement. Irth recognizes that implicit bias is a significant barrier to fair treatment for all.

Bias in care has been directly linked to the high Black maternal mortality and Black infant mortality rates. However, women and other birthing people from marginalized groups have no way of knowing how someone like them experienced a certain doctor or hospital.

LONGEST RUNNING NATURAL HAIR SHOW TO HOST IT'S 25TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN PHILLY

Nationwide --   With all the various social justice rallies and daily incidents of injustices related to racism: white supremacy, hair discrimination to many may seem unrelated and superficial. Yet upon deeper examination, one can find a pattern of not merely social injustice but blatant attack on the mental, emotional, physical, financial, and cultural life of Africans-in-the-Diaspora and Aboriginal Indigenous men and women especially as it relates to how they choose to wear their hair as it naturally grows out of their heads.

For centuries there has been both a covert and overt assault on the way Africans-in-the-Diaspora and Aboriginal Indigenous choose to wear and care for their hair. Because often their hair is deemed "unprofessional," "unclean," and "unattractive," many Africans-in-the-Diaspora and Aboriginal Indigenous men and women have lost jobs, been removed from schools, denied employment and/or advancement, been subject to ridicule, even abuse by police and others simply for having the nerve to be who they are naturally wearing afros, braids, twists, microbraids, sisterlocks, African locks, all culturally, naturally their divine right.

The historical abuse and injustices have reached such an outrageous extent that lawmakers across the country have begun to enact hair discrimination laws to protect the rights of Africans-in-the-Diaspora and Aboriginal Indigenous men, women and children.

9-YEAR-OLD AND 6-YEAR-OLD BROTHERS RELEASE A NON-FICTION PARENTING BOOK ENTITLED "HOW TO DEAL WITH KIDS: A GUIDE FOR ADULTS BY A KID"

Freeport, NY "How should we deal with kids?" It is the million-dollar question that many parents, teachers, and other adults are asking. For generations and generations, we have had books that have attempted to help answer this baffling question. Titles include Dr. Spock's Baby and Child Care, The Conscious Parent, 1-2-3 Magic, and many more. But what has been glaringly absent from this literary dialogue is a child's perspective.

Child author and kidpreneur Jojo Yawson is seeking to change this situation. At the age of six, he wrote his guidebook for adults who interact with children. He cleverly titled it "How to Deal With Kids."
The charming book contains ten tips for dealing with a multitude of issues, including time-outs, recreation, lectures, and more. Unlike many authors, Jojo did not have to engage in a long search for a publisher. His mother, Ama Yawson, has a publishing and training and development company called Milestales.
