BLACK ENTREPRENEURS LIKE THIS RIDESHARE APP BETTER THAN UBER AND LYFT

Nationwide -- Everybody knows about Uber and Lyft, but there's a new rideshare company called Tryp that is becoming especially popular with Black and other minority entrepreneurs. It's the only rideshare platform that allows drivers to keep 100% of their fares plus tips.

Why another rideshare platform?
An increasing number of Uber and Lyft drivers are unhappy because both companies continue to take larger shares of their drivers' profits. For this reason, in many cities around the world, drivers have protested and some have even gone on strike.

Both companies have gone public on the New York Stock Exchange, and many drivers feel that the companies have become greedy. In the beginning, they cleverly lured drivers with handsome offers to make more money, but now seem to be only interested in pleasing their shareholders.

How is Tryp different?
Tryp is different because it's not a publicly-traded company, so there are no shareholders to please.

CMSI AND CIEE RELEASE REPORT EXPLORING STUDY ABROAD EXPERIENCES OF STUDENTS FROM MINORITY SERVING INSTITUTIONS

Philadelphia, PA -- The Center for Minority Serving Institutions (CMSI) in partnership with the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) has published a report entitled, "Diversifying Study Abroad and Expanding Equity for Minority Serving Institutions."
The report offers an important glimpse into the challenges that dissuade students from studying abroad, including barriers of cost, culture, and curriculum, all of which may be exacerbated at Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). MSIs often have limited institutional resources to support study abroad and the majority of students are of color and come from low-income backgrounds.

In particular, the report highlights the Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship (FDGF), a collaborative initiative created by CMSI and CIEE that covers the costs for 10 outstanding MSI students, chosen for their academic achievement, communication skills, and service to others, to participate in an intensive four-week study abroad program focused on intercultural communication and leadership.\

"By outlining the obstacles that can stand in the way of study abroad, and highlighting a program designed to minimize the impact of those obstacles, we hope this report will encourage additional efforts to make study abroad more accessible for under-resourced students, especially those at MSIs," asserted Daniel Blake, the report's lead author and a research associate at CMSI.

Sharon R. Frank Realtor Share Pros and Cons of Investing In Multi-Family Buildings

New York, New York - Now that our economy has finally recovered from the burst of the housing bubble and market crash of 2008, people are beginning to be more willing to invest, and are looking at real state as a viable investment once again. But what is the best way to invest in real estate?

Multi-family housing! Why? The lifetime value of ongoing cash from rents is likely to be much larger than the one-time profit involved in “flipping” houses (buying low, fixing up and selling higher).

There is less anxiety about getting a price that justifies all of the work that went into acquisition, repair and sale of the property, and the tax treatment of ongoing rents may be more favorable than that of a capital gain from the sale of a single property. Investing in multi-family housing may be one of the best Real Estate investments that yield the best ROI (rate of investment).

EPILEPSY FOUNDATION TO OFFER FREE EPILEPSY & SEIZURE FIRST AID EDUCATION DURING 25TH ESSENCE FESTIVAL IN NEW ORLEANS
Dr. Steven Owens, vice president of Programs & Services at the Epilepsy Foundation
Landover, MD -- Epilepsy Foundation will offer free seizure first aid education during the 25th ESSENCE Festival® Presented by Coca-Cola in New Orleans on July 5-7, 2019. The Epilepsy Foundation will make its first appearance at the ESSENCE Festival to raise awareness about epilepsy and seizures among African Americans just in time for the festival's extraordinary 25th year celebration.

In addition to promoting seizure first aid, the Foundation's booth (#3902) - located in the Essence @ The Center, Community Corner at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center - will feature perspectives from two African American women living with epilepsy and Foundation staff will share tips for women to use when working with their healthcare team.

According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau and Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), African Americans are more likely to develop epilepsy over a lifetime and more likely to be diagnosed with epilepsy in an emergency room than white Americans. Women and girls living with epilepsy face unique challenges, including the impact of hormones, medication, birth control, pregnancy, and menopause on their seizure control.

Her source of inspiration came from her mother, Maxie Rene Holmes, who gave unyielding encouragement and support. She passed prior to the publication of Holmes' first book. The Yellow Rose was her favorite flower and that logo can be found gracing every dedication page as the author's gift of love and respect to her mother's memory.
