LONGEST RUNNING NATURAL HAIR BLOG CELEBRATES 15TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND LAUNCHES HAIR AND FASHION SHOW

Nationwide -- Going-Natural.com, the longest running natural hair blog, celebrates its 15th anniversary with a natural hair and fashion show, an exhibition and a new online marketplace at WhatNaturalsLove.com.

Giving homage

The celebration kicks off with the What Naturals Love Hair and Fashion to give homage to the pioneers of the natural hair movement.

The braiders, loctitians and stylists who not just kept Black follicles alive and healthy but also stylish, long before natural hair became an online sensation and despite the fact that natural hairstyles were and still are deemed unacceptable in many places.

Black people are the only people on planet earth who don't have the fundamental human right to wear their god-given tresses natural and if it wasn't for these pioneers, we wouldn't have New York City's new Law for Hair Diversity today.

RESEARCH REVEALS THAT BLACK CHILDREN WERE FED TO HOGS AND USED AS ALLIGATOR BAIT IN THE EARLY 1900's

New Orleans, LA -- August 2019 will mark 400 years of the first documented arrival of Africans brought to America as indentured servants. Children suffered and continue to suffer cruelties such as sex slaves, forced child labor, physical abuse, and in some cases, human cannibalism in United States.

These cruelties are a big part of human trafficking where body organs and other body parts are sold to wealthy people. These atrocities, abuse, and modern-day slavery will plague America like an incurable cancer until we address this ugly past.

When Dr. Antoinette Harrell thought that she had heard the worst of the worst, there was even more to discover. Harrell heard four stories that were so evil that most people didn't want to talk about what they experienced or repeat the painful experiences told to them by their family members.

No one wants to visit things that hurt them. Having these hurtful injustices to resurface can take them back to that time, place, and period in their lives that they do not want to remember.

THE SECOND ANNUAL BBQ'N WHILE BLACK EVENT: SPREADING UNITY AND GOOD FOOD THROUGHOUT OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA

Nationwide --  On April 29, 2018, a small group of black people barbecuing in a local Oakland, California park were harassed by a white woman who felt the need to irrationally call the police. She was certain they were committing a crime by using a charcoal grill, but when police showed up, no arrests were made but by then the damage had been done. The 25-minute episode of blatant harassment had already made its way through social media channels being viewed over two million times, resulting in the woman being dubbed as "BBQ Becky."

An instance that would usually warrant a negative response from any community turned into one of unity and solidarity as the community of Oakland joined together for the event "BBQ'n While Black."

Last year's event was a huge success, drawing crowds of more than four-thousand people who came out to show their solidarity and enjoy great food and music. Some of the attendees included political rights activist Angela Davis and local rappers such as Mistah Fab and Husalah.

CAB CALLOWAY'S CHILDHOOD HOME IN BALTIMORE TO BE DEMOLISHED -- FANS AND ACTIVISTS PLAN RALLY!

Baltimore, MD --  Any day after July 1, 2019, the childhood home of two legendary American Jazz icons, Blanche and Cab Calloway - is slated for demolition.  Fans and friends are rallying to save their childhood home, located in the Druid Heights community of West Baltimore, and convert it into a National Historic Landmark.

The home is located two blocks from Baltimore's famed Pennsylvania Ave ("The Ave") where young Calloway and his sister spent evenings and weekends feeding their passion for jazz. Unfortunately, the Calloway home sits just outside of the official Black Arts and Entertainment District.

Music lovers, history buffs and preservationists everywhere are encouraged to help preserve this important landmark by reaching out to city, state and national officials. A rally in front of the 2216 Druid Heights Ave address is scheduled for Friday, June 28, 2019 at 12:00 noon. Visit www.thecallowayhome.org for details and contact information for officials.

MISS ZEE IS INSPIRING BLACK GIRLS WITH CREATIVE PRODUCTS

Louisville, KY Miss Zee is proud to offer its unique range of products sporting imagery that is sparking social change by teaching black girls to be confident in who they are both inside and outside. Launched in late 2012, Miss Zee has grown in leaps and bounds, creating thousands of items, like backpacks, stationery, accessories, decor, and more that has transformed the lives of young black girls.

The idea for Miss Zee came about in 2011, after creator and illustrator, Michelle Smith's daughter Zee referred to her hair as "boring." Her daughter had also began depicting all of her personal drawings as white characters.

After seeing her personal drawings, Michelle found that Zee was also gifted a coloring book depicting white princesses. Rather than throwing it away, Michelle taught her that it was okay to color them black and draw on afros. Michelle then realized that there should already be a coloring book with characters like this. After not being able to find one, she illustrated her own and launched it, along with a small line of other items which was received with praise and accolades.

Sharon R. Frank Realtor and Expert Speaker Speaks on Gentrification

Real Estate Expert Sharon R. Frank Explains The Complicated Issues With Gentrification
By Sharon R. Frank
New York, New York - The internet is full of articles on real estate; what to do, what not to do, how to sell fast, sell high, buy low, and most of it is helpful … unless you happen to live in an area where the rules of real estate don’t apply. What could that possibly mean?

Some areas within major cities, most notably the outer boroughs of New York City just don’t follow the trends. The two most common reasons are high interest from a particular ethnic group with financial resources, or gentrification.

Gentrification is the term used to explain why neighborhoods that might not have previously been in great demand become very valuable.  It is a process of renovation of deteriorated urban neighborhoods by means of the influx of more affluent residents because those neighborhoods are still attainable when compared to the centers of culture and employment nearby.
