Nationwide -- Women of color in leadership roles sometimes face a very unique challenge because often, they have inherited their definition of success from a variety of sources. They can achieve great things, and sometimes realize that success is not what they expected, they've not achieved what they truly want out of life, or still feel unfulfilled despite their achievements.
They often have very few, if any, role models who can serve as mentors to help them navigate the pathway to true fulfillment. The same is true for many women physicians of color.
Elan Women Enterprise (EWE) was founded by Yashika Dooley, MD, an Ob-gyn and urogynecologist, and Marsha Caton, PhD, a biomedical and clinical research scientist, with the vision of providing a platform through which women of color are empowered to be well, and thereby own their success, and fulfill their purpose.

Attendees will earn CME credit as they learn how to negotiate and execute strategies for success based on the principles of operating in the C-suite. They will also learn to legally secure their legacy of success for future generations, how to build financial security, and be empowered in their professional and personal relationships. Sessions will also include strategies for mastering business and personal communication, as well as how to go beyond networking to effectively partner for empowerment and growth.
THRIVE Together also aims to inspire girls to pursue careers in medicine and science and it is well known that minority students often lack of role models in their communities. Therefore, girls ages 8 to 18 years old, will be invited to THRIVE Together's "meet the doctor" workshop to learn about careers in medicine and science.
The conference opens with a networking reception of Thursday Sep 26 at the Loma De Vida Spa at the La Cantera Resort. THRIVE Together is ultimately about helping women physicians of color build a life that will not only sustain and inspire them, but also allows them to build a legacy of success for generations who will follow in their foot-steps.
