HOW A POSTAGE STAMP SAVED A POSTAL WORKER FROM COMMITTING SUICIDE WHICH ULTIMATELY LED HER TO MEET OPRAH WINFREY
Author Meiko S. Patton with Oprah Winfrey |
Sacramento, CA -- In 2008, Meiko S. Patton lost her mother to colon and liver cancer. Her mom, Bernice Patton was just 59-years old. After the death of her mom, Meiko regularly contemplated suicide and was in a state of depression for several years.
Meiko worked as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service and every day she would see stamps. One day, while having recurring thoughts of suicide, a thought from the Divine about a postage stamp popped into her brain. She thought deeply that day about the purpose of a stamp and that one thought changed the trajectory of her life.
She challenged herself to live like a postage stamp because they stick to their purpose and never ever give up. Meiko began setting goals for her spiritual, mental and emotional health. She decided for 21 straight days to get up at 4 a.m. and go to the gym before work. She not only kept that promise to herself, she kept up that regimen for nearly a decade.
