A SHORT DOCUMENTARY EXAMINES WHY PREGNANCY IS KILLING BLACK WOMEN

Nationwide -- The statistics are grim: Black women and black babies are losing their lives at a rate that’s 3-4x higher than any other ethnicity during pregnancy and childbirth in the United States. After coming across news reports exposing this dire issue, Roman Debotch from BlackExcellence.com went looking for black women who had difficult pregnancies, lost babies, experienced dangerous births, dealt with racist medical providers and more. The result is a short documentary titled Pregnancy is Killing Black Women.

"I was shocked, really shocked when I came across multiple reports highlighting this issue in the black community. I had no idea the numbers were the worst racial disparities when it comes to health care," said Roman, the director and host of the 20 minute documentary. "I knew I had to make a film about this and share the stories of these women."

ONCE A MENACE TO SOCIETY, MEET THE YOUNG MAN THAT WANTS TO USE VEGETATION AND RECREATION TO STOP VIOLENT DESOLATION IN DETROIT

Detroit, MI -- The Saratoga Community, located in zip code 48205 in the city of Detroit, was once a flourishing and beautiful neighborhood. It was full of homes with manicured yards and businesses owned by people you knew.

Children ran the streets from sunrise to sunset; fearless and carefree. "I was one of those children," says Phillip Sample. "This community deteriorated quickly to become one of the most violent and dangerous neighborhoods in the country, due to drugs and deviant youth via gangs and guns. For those reasons this once beautiful, peaceful, family oriented neighborhood was reduced to what it is today - which is one of the most blighted and desolate areas in the city of Detroit."

The passion and drive behind the Saratoga Engagement, comes from the Visionary and Executive Director, Mr. Phillip "UcciKhan" Sample, who was once one of the deviant youth that contributed in the destruction of this community. In 1994, in the endeavor to protect all the squalor and trash he held sacred, Phillip was involved in a shooting at the corner of Saratoga and Celestine, which is in the heart of the Saratoga Community, where a two-year old baby was shot and ultimately died.

THE NATION'S FIRST REAL ESTATE FOCUSED YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION TEACHES REAL ESTATE LITERACY TO YOUTH AGES 11-27

Los Angeles, CA  -- Real Estate 100 Youth Foundation empowers communities by educating youth about real estate. The non-profit organization introduces youth to careers in real estate as a means of long-term wealth building.

This groundbreaking program offers workshops, online instruction and an internship program centered around real estate literacy. Recognizing an unmet need for minorities to learn about real estate was the impetus for its inception.

"During the financial housing crisis of 2008, when I saw black and brown people targeted, I said, 'If we want to do different, we need to teach our children,'" says founder of Real Estate 100, Lisa Puerto. "As we're teaching the youth, we want them to be able to identify with someone who looks like them, in the industry."

Theatre of the Living Word in collaboration with the Caribbean American Repertory Theater are pleased to present James Baldsin’s “The Amen Corner”. Directed by Fulton C. Hodges. Music Direction by Anne-Marie Hudley Simmons. The Amen Corner is a three-act play by James Baldwin. It was Baldwin’s first attempt at theater following Go Tell It on the Mountain.

It was first published in 1954, and inspired a short-lived 1983 Broadway musical adaptation with the slightly truncated title, Amen Corner. The Amen Corner takes place in two settings: a ‘‘corner’’ church in Harlem and the apartment dwelling of Margaret Alexander, the church pastor, and of her son, David, and sister Odessa. After giving a fiery Sunday morning sermon, Margaret is confronted by the unexpected arrival of her long estranged husband, Luke, who collapses from illness shortly thereafter.

Feeling Discouraged?  Need Prayer?  Just Make The Call Into Worship And Unlock The Power Of The Kingdom Within!
 CMack Ministries

The Sunday Morning Hour of Power Church By Phone Service, a telephone-based weekly worship service of Cassandra Mack Ministries, exists to offer help, hope and healing through Christ to: those who are seeking Bible based strategies to navigate the twists and turns of life, those who do not have a church home to call their own, those who are shut-in and have limited mobility, those who are just starting to explore their faith as well as those who are skeptical and unsure; a place where they can come together to worship, learn about the Bible and fellowship without being limited by location, denomination or physical mobility.

Our Sunday Morning Hour of Power Church By Phone Service doesn’t seek to limit church to a physical place that people come to on Sundays. But to take the limits off of church by showing people how they can be the church in their daily lives by expressing their faith in ways that engage their communities and impact humanity as part of God's plan for world transformation through grace.
