Nationwide  -- As a community, we would rather give all or most of our money, abilities, and attention to the problems of our community, rather than the solutions. We like and share these problems on facebook who won't even allow us to reach all our friends, while Blackjunction.com, our very own Black facebook continues to struggle. At the very least, we should have an account with them, but should make a onetime donation to their business. Our elder leaders who've dedicated their lives to uplift our community, continue to struggle for decades, because we refuse to support them financially.

US Congressman Gregory Meeks Sounds Off On The White House's Proposal To Increase Rent Of Low Income Americans

From The Office Of Congressmen Gregory Meeks

The Trump administration’s rental housing proposal has been enshrined in draft legislation released by Republican Rep. Dennis Ross of Florida.  The proposal repeals a legal protection authored by former Republican Senator Edward Brooke requiring that residents of federally supported housing not spend more than 30 percent of their income on rent and utilities.

Rep. Meeks Responds to White House’s Proposal to
Raise Rent on Low-Income Americans

Washington, DC – Congressman Gregory W. Meeks, a senior Member of the House Committee on Financial Services, issued the following statement in response to a proposal from President Donald Trump and Housing Secretary Ben Carson that would substantially increase rent on financially burdened families that receive housing assistance:

“Yesterday was an unfortunate one, especially for hard-working American families who are living paycheck to paycheck.  Under Trump’s heartless plan to raise rents, struggling families would lose money they could otherwise spend on groceries, school supplies, and other life essentials.

The proposal would create an administrative nightmare at HUD and restrict job-seekers from moving to areas where rents are already high.  Rather than encourage work in a changing economy, this proposal will stifle employment mobility and turn the federal government’s back on individuals who have yet to fully experience what we have long hailed as the American Dream of getting ahead. It’s deeply unnerving that this administration continually lines the pockets of the rich by stealing from the poor, but sadly, it is par for the course.”

After A String Of Guest Performers The Ed Jackson Quartet Returns to Jackson Room

By Kamau & Nzinga Austin

The Jackson Room, Southeast Queens and Jamaica's go to place for jazz has a concert this weekend called "Spring 2 Jazz."  Ed Jackson is the club owner and leader of the Jackson Room's in-house jazz group: The Ed Jackson Quartet.

The Jackson Room had a number of well regarded guest performers the last few months like Irini Res, Cecilia Coleman, The Willie Martinez Quartet, and the Jerome Jennings Trio.  However, the Ed Jackson Quartet is coming back bringing the jazz heat this Spring.

My father works for them.  He's worked for them for a number of years before starting the Southeast Queens Scoop.

We're looking forward to attending the next concert.  My dad and I both immensely enjoy Ed Jackson's music.  The Ed Jackson Quartet will be back in da house performing their trademark music with amazing artistry.

Southeast Queens Scoop Owners Nzinga & Kamau Austin

Mr. Jackson is a talented performer and gracious club owner.  He actually allowed me to sing on the Jackson Room stage.

The audience at the Jackson Room is very upbeat and supportive.  I once sang on the stage at the Jackson Room and the audience there actually clapped for me and gave me money at the end of my selection.

My dad is one of the best dads you can have because he works for famous people and famous jazz artists in Southeast Queens area and he promotes them.  The Jackson Room is becoming very well known in the area for jazz performances from world class jazz artists.  Many of them have played for major jazz clubs and bands in Manhattan and across the world.

Philadelphia, PA  -- West Chester, PA based Lifestyle Technology Company, She's It, LLC is helping women "Live Life GRAND" by shaping the conversation on health, fitness and well-being. The company combines the power of conversations with the strength of mobile technology, enabling women to achieve positive behavioral changes, leading to 360 degree well-being.

Co-Owners, Tammy Williams and Carol Pate have been showcasing She's It around the country, providing full body composition analyses to attendees of health and fitness EXPO’s since Fall 2017. Last week they announced the launch of "SHEapp", their keystone mobile application, on CBS6 - WTVR's Virginia This Morning.

She’s It Founder and President, Tam Williams, wanted to provide a product that would help women to engage, learn and be motivated to look beyond the scale and to look at themselves first. Studies show that women are guilty of 'body shaming' themselves and other women and are most often the subject of body shaming by men and in the media. Williams believes and preaches that "Everybody is Different and Every BODY is Different".
