CHRISTIAN REGGAE RAPPER RELEASES HEART-WRENCHING BOOK FOR SEXUAL ABUSE SURVIVORS

Nationwide --  Within the pages of Tyrone Short's book, "Speak Up Child and Be Saved," readers will find a book depicting what it means when a young girl loses her innocence, which is very precious, and when it's taken against her will, more than just her innocence can be lost. Innocence lost without justice gained is a double jeopardy leading to further loss.

"Many people in society have been a victim to this crime. Many of them are living in silence and want to speak up. I believe that this book can provide them the motivation and courage to speak up," says Short.

Today's society is filled with these unheard victims. The 'Me Too Movement' continues to expose many for their inappropriate behavior, but these victims may feel what happened to them goes a lot deeper. This book is designed to reach them.

After wandering through the desert for over thirty-five years, Tyrone Short now serves as a witness to the amazing grace of the Creator of the heavens and the earth. Tyrone Short is a writer and Christian Reggae rapper (Prince Trog). He has written many books, including: Embrace Her Christian Soul (Lulu Press), Is The Pope Kidding Me? A Breakdown of Catholic Apologetics (Lulu Press), A Christian's Look at Daytime Soap Operas (Lulu Press), and more.

Interview With Tyrone Short Continues Below...

We asked Tyrone Short more about his inspiration for the book.  You can read his responses below...

Kamau:  Tyrone can you tell us a little about where you grew up and your home town?

Tyrone Short:  I grew up in the Bronx, New York.  And I love New York City, the fast life, the bright lights, the variety of everything.  But I now live in Denver, Colorado.

Kamau:  What inspired you to write a book on young girls who are victims of sexual abuse like ‘Speak Up Child And be Saved’?

Tyrone Short:  Sometime after my divorce in 2001, I went to the movies with a young lady.  After the movie ended, we had just left the theatre and as we were outside, there was a moment we had between us where it seemed like the right time to reach over and give her a kiss.

When I attempted to kiss her, she backed away very quickly and somewhat awkwardly.  I found it to be an odd reaction, so I asked her why she moved away from me so suddenly.

She assured me that she liked me, but because of her past experiences, she didn’t want to get too close to men so quickly. Especially wanting to protect herself, pulling away was an automatic reaction.  Sort of like wanting to guard her heart.

She proceeded to tell me that when she was much younger, she had been sexually abused by her uncle.  This had went on for about 5 years.

I was the first person that she ever shared this with.  Realizing it took her courage to share all of this with me, I stood there stunned and didn’t know what to say at first, but then consoled her.  Unfortunately, for me, our evening ended sooner than I even expected, and I never heard from her again.

So that incident left quite an impression on me.  However, since then, the number of women and young ladies that I’ve met who’ve faced a similar situation, is quite astounding.  And as the case with the first woman, I was the first person they ever told this to.

Without a doubt, I believe God revealed these things to me for a reason.  I also believe that God put the passion inside of me to write a book about this topic in hopes of reaching other victims.  Ultimately, I want my message to be known, to the assaulted, that they don’t have to suffer in silence.

Kamau:  Can you elaborate on your personal statement: “After wandering through the desert for over thirty-five years”?  What does the metaphorical statement mean in reference to your life’s journey?

Tyrone Short:  The desert was the darkness that I had walked through, until I had come into the revelation that the God of Israel was real.  And it was only when I had accepted his son (Jesus Christ) as my Lord and Savior that He brought me out of darkness and into the light.

Kamau:  How did you develop yourself into a prolific author and publisher of inspirational books?

Tyrone Short:  I love to write.  And in my daily prayer—as a matter of fact, I pray quite often throughout the day, I present God with the many passions and certain things that He may have laid on my heart.  It’s during those moments when I seek His face and where He reveals to me what to write about.

The amazing thing about all of this is the peace I receive from Him on certain subjects.  I know more or less how to run with it, and continually pray that I am representing Him well with my thoughts that are expressed in written form.  Most especially, I ask the Holy Spirit to lead me in the right direction.
