Support A Night Of Suicide Prevention
David M. Stamps,
in association with The Queens Center of the Arts, will be producing a
poetry event entitled "The Veteran's Voice." This poetry event will be
held at 198-20 Linden Blvd., St. Albans, New York 11412.

will be a sober event with mock cocktails and dinner, a DJ and dancing.
The Veterans Voice event will be held on January 12, 2019. This event is to honor our Veterans
with:
poetry
storytelling and
song with entertainment provided by veterans, their families and local artists.
Interview With Veterans Voice Producer David Stamps
We asked veteran David Stamps, some background questions on why he felt inspired to produce the Veterans Voice Program. Below is the Interview we conducted with him.Kamau For The Scoop: Can you tell us where you grew up and a little about your family life?
David Stamps: I grew up in Detroit/Flint, Mi. I was the middle of seven in a very dysfunctional family.
It was the cruelty of my parents and siblings displayed towards me that expanded my heart for things like disabled veterans and children in abusive situations. Because of it I was able to save a whole school full of children from an abusive teacher.
I used my show on WBLS, with Frankie Crocker, which had millions of listeners to get rid of that teacher. They called me "The Messiah." Hence the name, D'Massiah.
Kamau For The Scoop: What compelled you to join the military?
David Stamps: I wanted to get away from my family and have money. The military fit the bill.
Kamau For The Scoop: Can you tell us how far reaching and impactful PTSD is on the lives of veterans and their families?
David Stamps: If you're dealing with this set of emotional difficulties it permeates everything you do. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder means you relive past trauma when faced with a traumatic situation, so yes it's always with you.
Kamau For The Scoop: Is suicide a big issue with war survivors and military personnel?
David Stamps: They've dedicated an (800) number to address it so I think that speaks volumes for the level of concern the military has for this issue.
Kamau For The Scoop: What are some of the solutions to help military personnel and veterans handle PTSD and suicide?
David Stamps: Both of these are emotional issues therefore, there's a spiritual solution. There's a spiritual solution for every problem.
Just apply love principles like honesty, forgiveness and self-love. And the greatest of these of love and especially self-love.
