Ed Jackson's sax showmanship really shines on this album. The soulful Jackson is able to play a smooth jazz tune on one number and seconds later shock you into awe with his powerful horn scatting intensity. His writing on the album is also dynamic as he composes riveting call and response riffing with his other horn masters in an excellent harmonic improvisation.

The Album “Ed Jackson Live,” is a savory jazz album at the Jackson Room made available to the global community of jazz enthusiasts. The album reps well the quality of top jazz talent that grace's the venue on an ongoing basis.  This CD is obviously tuned into Jackson's saxophone aplomb and his affinity to push and challenge his fellow horn virtuosos to give their best performances.

His first tune on his album is a tribute to the home of the Ed Jackson Sextet -- “The Jackson Room.” It is a fun and fitting tribute to the faithful Jackson Room patrons.

Throughout the album we are treated to the talented contributors in personal but moving collective synergistic artistry.  The horn masters Tom Browne, of the Billboard #1hit “Funkin For Jamaica, NY,” is on Trumpet, the highly regarded Freddie Hendrix, is on Flugelhorn and Trumpet, and of course band  leader Ed Jackson, is on alto saxophone.  They leave their indelible stamp on this album's moving music.  Equally Calrton Holmes, on piano, with top tier bassist Essiet Essiet, and the ambidextrous Lionel Cordew, is on drums, paint engaging music with complimentary flourish.

Selections like “To Her Ladyship,” with their syncopated horn revelry draw you into the ecstasy of the true Jackson Room Experience.   “The Ed Jackson Live,” album gives a contrasting spectrum of rich jazz from the drum driven “Happy House,” to the soothing smooth jazz rapture of the 911 musical tribute “One Last Goodbye.”  The Ed Jackson Live album is an ethereal mix of invigorating jazz.  Bravo to the Ed Jackson Sextet for this music compilation and kudos to Ed Jackson for sharing the Jackson Room experience with all of us in this jazzy album.  Thanks to the Ed Jackson Sextet, and this CD we all can enjoy this great underground music.
