The Daily News, reported her grandparents owned an hotel on the island called "Gibb's Chateau." Desiree was 26, and her mother Andrea Cali-Gibbon, felt that she knew her killers. She suggested Desiree was not the type to go out with people she didn't know.
According to Pix 11 News "Somebody summoned her out of that hotel," Cali-Gibbon said. "She knew them, and she knew them well. She had not been around them once or twice; she had been around these people multiple times. Probably in the three-plus weeks she was there."

According to Pix 11 News "She told the security guard she’d be right back," Cali-Gibbon told the Daily News. Andrea went on to say “Nobody spoke to her after that.” If she left her cell phone in her room, which her mother claims she found collecting her things, that would be consistent with her saying "she'd be right back."
Her mom said "she was the person who found her daughter’s Jamaican cell phone while packing up her belongings." Cali-Gibbon said she was shocked that the police wouldn’t have collected the phone as evidence. Andrea Cali-Gibbon stated “They don’t care."
Andrea Gibbon, stated "she couldn't even recognize her daughter" expressing how brutalized her daughter's body had been. She also has lost confidence with the authorities in Jamaica feeling her daughter's case was mishandled and wants to hire her own investigators to find her deceased daughter's killers if she has to in order to get justice.
We at the Scoop hope her killers are brought to justice as soon as possible. If the investigation isn't being pursued vigorously perhaps other political and economic measures should be considered to move the investigation along. The major media and Jamaican authorities may care little about her but we are concerned about the young women getting justice and her family getting closure.
Crime stats of the area around where Ms. Gibbons was killed are very high. It has been revealed 12 murders took place 4 days around the time Desiree Gibbon was murdered.
Perhaps the police or constables in the area are overwhelmed and need help. Opposition leaders on the Island nation are lamenting that violent crime and murder is out of control. The late Desiree's Body was eventually brought back to the United States and her funeral organized to take place at Incarnation Parish in Queens Village, Queens, NYC.

ok being xomeone who has lived in jamaica and deal with problem people alot. the profile of leaver her money and phone in room is maybe this person was someone who bother her for money. supposedly she got a text if tht is so why do they not cal digicell give fbi case and let them handle it.when u dont want to deal with certain people who are prospective beggar or use u for a source. it would not be out of practice to leave phone in room and money. id leae my expensive phone and any money in my room .if i was coming back. i have had asome things go on. also if wasnot who i was id be not here . Im also not here not by taking any risk. by not taking risk and stay i my hotel but i was ambush in a hotel and set up by somehtin else tht left me struggling. from a problem person in my life.who was also out for revenge despite i left him and he got some othe blind woman to take him up.. a pimp by nature.. i was backing off streett to rebalnce after a bad experince trip, and my dfense thrown off left me a target for a game. i was fed to a game which left me unable to react or defend mylife from what was going on. it was a non violent agresive means to fuck me up ... a game that left me cripple and i was backing off of certain people who were to much agressive about certain things.. happy alone.. i rarely hve to much issues an can handle alot but when i mknow im in a vulnerable spot. i keep to myself and i got screwed not just by the situation but by persons block me from medical care. her profile seem like someone might be bug her for money.. maybe she not want him. this case seem like it went cold and they need to offer money.. for reward.. and get locals to help them. and FBI. someone had to see something. her or someone.. ....tell someoen and money will talk but not all time... she was goig to leave.. she told o=by friend someone was a problem. i never have to call anyone and never did excpet when i found myself in vulnerable state and one time i did not. ok
