Philadelphia, PA - Memoir Maven Publishing Company announced the release of its first anthology, How Divorce Became My Deliverance. The collection of stories was compiled to provide hope and inspiration to divorced and separated women. The anthology includes a foreword contributed by Andrea M. Stuckey, transformational coach and founder of Live Life Luvd, whose mission is to help women overcome the pain and transition of divorce.

"Divorce has such a negative impact on the family that many women, whether religious or not, fall victim to the stigma for years. This book gives them permission to release the shame and build a better life," Ms. Stuckey stated. Compiled by the publisher, the women were all strangers, yet their stories held a common thread. of strength, endurance and hope.

Here is an introduction to the nine authors who have provided an introspective look into their lives:

1. C. Michelle Atkins, a domestic violence prevention advocate residing in Atlanta, GA, explains how being unequally yoked, i.e. incompatible, contributed to the demise of both of her marriages.

2. Dannielle Brown, a native of Washington, DC, spent years doing everything she could to be loved by her husband. But the constant emotional and physical abuse led her to self harm and a brief hospital stay.

3. Amanda Garcia was abandoned by her husband, the only man she ever knew, on December 23, 2016. She's learned to navigate California life with their five children and without his financial support.

4. Nisha, an urban fiction author and native of California, is a former exotic dancer and escort who married, not for love, but for the love of money.

5. Lori Obayomi, who resides in Virginia, married a man who led her to believe that he was a US citizen. She went through the entire Immigration process only to learn their marriage was a fraud.

6. Lisa McGovern, a native of Washington, DC, was unable to endure the emotional and verbal harassment from her husband’s two ex-wives and daughter’s mother, so she sought peace by checking herself into the local hospital's psychiatric ward.

7. Stephanie Thomas, a New York native, landed the most sought-after fraternity man on campus and later endured blatant infidelity as well as physical and emotional abuse.

8. Tracee Upteen, a government agent residing in Maryland, discovered her husband was sexually abusing her teenage daughter and used her investigative skills to induce his confession.

9. Elona Washington, who now lives in the Philadelphia, PA region, realized her husband was emotionally abusive and eventually landed in the emergency room due to a suspected brain hemorrhage.

"Like most of the women, I too did everything I could to make my marriage work. But when he chose not to fight and I found myself divorced, I realized my decision to marry him came from a place of pain. Then I began to wonder: how many other women chose men who resembled hurt or the pain of their past? And how can I help them take the first step to healing? There are thousands of women who need to know they’re not alone and it's quite possible that they could find the peace and healing their searching for after divorce," explains Elona Washington.

How Divorce Became My Deliverance is available now on Amazon. The paperback retails for $9.99 and the Kindle version will be $1.99 now through the end of October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
