“The Ave” revolves around a group of entrepreneurs trying to rise from the ashes of poverty. Creating legitimate black-owned businesses in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Ironically, they resort to committing fraud to make their dream a reality. Creator Bobby Ashley describes the web series as HBO’s “The Wire” meets modern-day urban Brooklyn.
In her Pix 11 News coverage, Kirstin Cole writes “The Ave shows how Ashley uses his homegrown talent to discuss the creativity coming out of Brownsville. The twenty-three-year-old college graduate series portrays his community in a different light with its complex characters, confronting difficult issues and news headlines”.

"Over the years, so many acclaimed web series has transitioned into television and we hope that happens for us on HBO or Showtime. As a Brownsville, native, I feel a responsibility to showcase our culture and help dispel stereotypes. The series addresses prevalent issues in the community such as police brutality, absentee parents, and poverty. Time to change the narrative” Bobby Ashley.
“The Ave” is produced by Bobby Ashley and Mical Milus. The series stars rising talent Kimberly Medina Courts (Orange is the New Black), Steven Fernandez (Netflix’s She Gotta Have It, Sole Kings), Guyviaud Joseph (Power, Perception of Violence), Zae Diggs (Brotherz), Marcellous Lewter (Dope Fiend) Brett Puryear, Shaniqua J West, Randie Graves and Krystal Garner.
